My hobbies
Crochet
I am constantly exploring new hobbies, and a recent one I have adopted is crochet. I was inspired by DIY videos on my social media and thought to give it to go. I enrolled into a weekly workshop to learn the skill and it soon became a regular part of my life.
I started making my friends and family bookmarks, car hanging accessories and coasters. I want to start making bigger crochet items like sweaters, cardigans, jackets, dresses, bags, and stuffed animals. With crochet your creativity can only get bigger, you can literally crochet anything you want it allows you to express your creativity and make unique, handmade items. Crochet is a portable hobby that you can take with you wherever you go. You can crochet while waiting in line, during a long commute, or while watching TV. It’s a very nice skill to have since it teaches you patience and steadiness. It helped be more focused which is something I struggle with and keeps me calm. And hopefully I’ll start selling my items in workshops and by word of mouth.
Cooking & baking
Whenever anyone at home is craving something delicious or sweet, they call for me! Masterchef show has been my muse, and Gordon Ramsey is a guilty pleasure to watch! Cooking allows you to experiment with different ingredients and cooking techniques, which can be a fun and creative outlet. You can also customize your meals to your liking and come up with new and unique dishes. I watched the show when I was 12 and ever since I have been experimenting in the kitchen. I would cook all types of cuisines Asian, African, Mexican, Arab and Italian. My most famous and requested dishes are chicken curry, macron bashmal, orange chicken and arabita pasta. However, baking is what I enjoy most I have sweet tooth which always makes me crave sweet things resulting in baked goods almost every day. I have baked almost everything you could think of but what everyone always requests are my cookies, carrot cake and chocolate cake. Baking at home allows you to control the ingredients and the amount of sugar, salt, and fat that goes into your baked goods, making it a healthier option. One of my biggest goals is to open my own bakery.
Extra curricular activities
Sports have been an integral part of my upbringing, I have played sports such as: swimming, tennis, gymnastics, karate, basketball, and horse riding. The two sports that I liked the most and excelled in were swimming and horse riding. I started taking swimming lessons when I was 4 years old till I was 12, classifying me an advanced swimmer. I used to enter all of my schools competitions and regionals and used to always get first place. My school coach used to use me as an example for the others to show them my technique so they could follow it. I also used to teach beginner swimmers in my school freestyle and backstroke. However, when I was diagnosed with asthma I couldn’t swim as well as I used to, my breath underwater became significantly worse which discouraged me from swimming. That’s when I started horse riding because I loved horses and always wanted to own one and be able to ride it, I took horse riding lessons for 4 years started when I was 13 till, I was 17 I was able to trot and control the horse with ease.
